Divine Word College of Laoag admits male and female students who have the required academic credentials with good moral character.
I. Freshmen Applicants
New graduates from recognized secondary schools are admitted in college upon presentation of their original copy of the Form 138 (4th year High School Report Card); a certificate of good moral character from the former school, and the placement examination result form the Divine Word College of Laoag Testing Center.
II. Transfer students
Transferees from other colleges or universities and graduates who enroll for another degree course must present: a Transfer Credential from the former school, with a copy of subjects taken for evaluation and a certificate of good moral character.

I. Freshman Applicants
A. Procedures for Admission
- The student-applicant must inquire for details at the Registrar.
- He must pay the required testing fee at the Cash Section
- The student-applicant takes the placement test at the Testing and Evaluation Center
- He proceeds to the Guidance Center and presents the results of his placement test for career counseling.
- He proceeds to the Registrar for submission and evaluation of the credentials (Form 138 & other documents if applying for scholarship including his/her Certificate of Good Moral Character).
- If admitted, he presents completed admission form to the Dean for interview and academic evaluation. Upon approval, the student proceeds with the enrolment process.
B. Academic Evaluation Policies
- Determination of the overall score called the Academic Potential Index (API) is arrived at from an equation combining the Fourth Year High School Point Average (GPA) and the College Placement Test (CPT) scores.
- Status Classification:
- Accepted on first course choice
- Accepted on second course choice
- Not accepted
C. Process of Reconsideration
- The Admission Committee receives request for reconsideration and re- ranks their API’s
- The Admission Committee deliberates and decides on the cases for reconsideration, using the following criteria:
- Original results (Fourth Year High School GPA, DWCL CET Results)
II. Transfer Applicants
Procedures for Admission

The transfer student must inquire for details at the Registrar.

He must pay the required testing fee at the Cash Section.

The transfer student takes the placement test at the Testing and Evaluation Center.

He proceeds to the Student Affairs Office for interview and submission of the certificate of good moral character.

He proceeds to the Registrar for submission and evaluation of his/her transfer credentials and other documents if applying for scholarship.

If admitted, he/she presents Certificate of Acceptance to the Dean and proceeds with the enrolment process.
Schools (Departments) may require additional admission requirements for freshmen or transfer students for screening purposes. Such information is provided for in their Bulletin of Information.
A transfer-student may be allo9wed to temporarily enroll pending the submission of his/her transfer credentials. However, failure to submit said transfer credentials within prescribed period by the Registrar shall invalidate all academic credits attained during the period of his/her enrolment.
