Anchored on one of the goals of the DWCL – School of Nursing, which is to emphasize and provide extension services relevant to community health needs, the BSN IV students, groups 9 and 11, joined and participated in a medical-dental mission on August 2, 2008 at Brgy. Gabut Norte, Badoc, Ilocos Norte. They were accompanied by
their clinical instructors, Ms. Cristina Retondo and Mrs. Imelda Carlos, and the Dean of the School of Nursing, Mr. Michael Ginez. Said medical-dental mission aimed to extend health services to the underserved community people.
The activity was able to serve 240 medical clients, 51 dental clients, 41 ophthalmology clients and 101 children for deworming. They came from nearby barangays of Badoc and Pinili, Ilocos Norte. Free consultation, free medicines, tooth extraction and deworming were the services provided.
The mission was spearheaded by Kiwanis Club of Ilocos Norte, in collaboration with Ilocos Norte Mining Company, Hon. Badoc Mayor Thomas Torralba, INEC Director Virgilio Calahate and Brgy. Gabut Norte Officials./Michael M. Ginez(08-02-08) >> photo album
